Why does creativity seem so mysterious—even magical—yet feel out of reach for so many of us? In this powerful and thought-provoking book, Creative Thinking: A Coach’s Perspective, André Walton unpacks the truth: creativity isn’t just for artists, inventors, or “special people.” It’s a way of thinking—a mindset we can all access, nurture, and apply in our everyday lives.
Blending science, coaching, storytelling, and a deep dive into history, Walton takes us on a journey from the dawn of human evolution to modern-day challenges, showing that creativity has always been central to who we are. Whether you're a coach, leader, or lifelong learner, you’ll discover how group dynamics, social pressures, and personal mindset all influence creative expression—and how to shift them in your favor.
Packed with relatable insights, practical exercises, and real-life coaching moments, this book reveals how creative thinking can unlock personal transformation, emotional resilience, and even joy. It’s not about being a genius—it’s about thinking differently to see more clearly, connect more deeply, and act more boldly.
If you’re ready to tap into one of the most powerful tools you already possess, this is your invitation to begin.

At the core André Walton is an inventor, entrepreneur and educator. In his 20s, he built businesses around his crazy ideas in medical ultrasound and professional music equipment, turning his inventions into global leaders in their field.
He lived and worked in seven different countries and later earned a PhD in social psychology with a focus on creativity in an organizational context. His first book, Embracing the New Era also examines creativity from a unique perspective and explains many anomalies from why brainstorming doesn’t work to why creatives have a higher rate of psychological problems compared to others.
He is the Visiting Professor of Creativity and Entrepreneurship at the Newport Business School, and faculty at the University of Nevada Reno.
In his coaching practice, he helps entrepreneurs and business executives make better decisions and overcome burnout through his unique Spherical Thinking process, which is described in detail in this book. He is a speaker and jazz musician living in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada with his wife, Robin, and has a wonderful time with his grand daughters.
